Help Fund Another Historic Marker in Trolley Barn Park!

Existing historical markers in University Heights

The University Heights Historical Society needs your help reaching our goal of $3,000 by September 13 for a fourth historic marker in Trolley Barn Park, 1943 Adams Avenue in University Heights. We have already almost $1,000 towards this goal thanks to other community members! The fourth marker will be similar to the three existing markers shown above which were fabricated and installed by the University Heights Historical Society in 2022.

The new marker will commemorate the Adams Avenue Trolley Carbarn Site, City of San Diego Historical Landmark No. 369. Trolley Barn Park was once the site of a massive, 60,000-square-foot carbarn built in 1913 by the San Diego Electric Railway to house and maintain its electric streetcars.

Below is the approximate location of the marker in Trolley Barn Park, which the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department has approved:

If the necessary funds are raised, we anticipate fabricating and installing the marker by the end of the year.
